We have a new Conveyancer on our Legal Team, Laura Hart.
Laura has now joined the Sort Legal team. Laura's role will be remote, something we have adapted to since the pandemic. Laura has plenty of experience in conveyancing; we're excited to have her on board.
We have spent some time with Laura during her induction and visit to our HQ. We pulled together a Q&A with a series of questions based on her career, hobbies and hope for her Sort Legal journey.
Check it out!
What is your new role at Sort Legal?
Conveyancer.
What attracted you to Sort Legal?
I could see how much the company has grown over the last few years and wanted to be part of that growth.
Tell us about your background; what did you do before joining our team?
I started working as an office assistant (many years ago!) and worked my way up from there. I have experience at both high street Solicitor firms and volume conveyancing firms, but the majority of my fee earning experience has been working in volume conveyancing.
Why a career in conveyancing? What inspired you?
Buying a property is one of the most important decisions you make, and I thought helping someone move into their dream home would be very rewarding. Conveyancing is fast-paced and can be a challenging role, and I also liked the possibility of progression in the job.
Do you have any advice for anyone looking to start a career in conveyancing?
My advice to anyone looking to start a career in conveyancing is always to ask questions. The more understanding you have of the process and each aspect of it, the more rewarding the job is for you and the better your service is to your clients.
If money was no object, where would you travel in the world and why?
I would love to travel around the Caribbean.
Tell us something that made you smile recently?
I would love to put something very philosophical here, but the biggest smile that I have had on my face appeared last week when I bought a pair of shoes that I have had my eye on for a little while!
What do you like to do outside of work? Do you have any hobbies?
I love to read and always have a book with me, and I am also a painter. I have recently moved closer to the seaside so am taking full advantage of painting by the beach now that the sun has started to appear again!
Describe your perfect day off?
My perfect day off would be heading out for a walk to the seafront and then spending the morning drawing and painting. Then heading for lunch (and wine, of course) before going to an art gallery or the cinema.
How would you describe your job to a 5-year-old?
Would keep it very simple and explain that their parents would need to use us to help them move house.
