Are you considering a New Build property?
Do you know what to expect?
New-Build differ slightly from Pre-Owned properties, there are a handful of extra things to consider once you have moved in.
Here at Sort Legal, our conveyancing team have pulled together some Top Tips to give you peace of mind, helping you settle into your brand-new home.
Keep your developers/site managers number on speed dial.
You’ll want to ensure you have saved the developers contact details and you have these to hand, just incase you discover any significant problems or in case of an emergency.
We suggest keeping a note pad and pen to hand to keep a note of all the snags you may notice. It’s easier to submit everything when you have a well-ordered list.
Don’t forget to register your appliance warranties. – this is a common one most people forget as they assume it starts automatically, but take a closer look.
When you move in, your address/postcode may not be available to find when making online purchases or for delivery couriers to find you. You may not be available on sat nav’s and google maps for a while. Make a note of the nearest possible postcode and address and have this handy for when you’re making purchases so you can give information on how to find you. Also, make sure you register your address with Royal Mail, too.
When you first move in, you may not know what type of window coverings you want. Until you’ve decided, why not purchase some temporary blackout blinds to give you privacy?
