Our Charity Work – The Mental Health Foundation

Prevention is at the heart of what we do. Our knowledge, informed by rigorous research and practical based study, has been pioneering change then 70 years and we aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo or tackle difficult or under-researched issues – The Mental Health Foundation

A lot like Sort Group, The Mental Health Foundation isn’t afraid to push boundaries. The above quote is just one of the reasons we have chosen to work with this incredible charity this year.

Back in 2019, our charity committee asked our employees to vote for the charities they would like to see us support that following year.

The Mental Health Foundation was a clear winner; however, due to the Global Pandemic, we were unable to focus our attentions on the charity and carry out everything we wanted to do in aid of the Mental Health Foundation.

This year, with things picking up and “normality” on the returning to most parts of the country, we decided to dedicate our time to The Mental Health Foundation and raise as much money as possible.

What have we done so far?

Our charity committee is made up of 10 employees.

Our committee is the voice for each of our brands, SortRefer, Sort Legal and Sort Move.

The team get together every month, sharing fundraising ideas, feedback from other employees and creating our charity calendar.

Since January 2020, we have been participating in various events, some, of course, are still virtual, but it’s been great fun!

Some of these include:

Dress down days – whether in the office or at home

Virtual Yoga Lessons

Virtual Quiz Nights

Cute pet competitions: The winner will feature in our cute pet calendar.

Take Action & Get Active campaign: Throughout March, we asked our employees to get active and set their targets, whether walking, running, etc.

Throughout the month, and our employees asked for sponsors from friends, family, and other colleagues.

The fundraiser has been a great success and combined our employees have walked 4,340715 steps!

What are our plans for the rest of the year?

Throughout the rest of the year, we will be continuing our charity fundraisers. With each event that takes place, we ask all our staff (those who want to get involved) to make a small contribution.

By doing this, we hope to go above and beyond our target. We set out to raise £1,000 at the start of the year due to our incredible success so far, and hitting the target, we have now set a new goal of £3000!

Our dress down days will continue, In all sorts of fun themes such as:

  • Festival
  • Halloween Dress Up
  • Back to School

We also hope to conduct some fantastic virtual events that will most definitely challenge our staff. We also hope that we will be able to participate in fundraisers that are not virtual soon.

All of our events and activities will be shared on our Social Media accounts, giving you the chance to get involved and donate if you wish.

Make sure you follow us to ensure you do not miss out.

Useful Links and support

For many of us, the easing of lockdown brings longed-for opportunities (even at a social distance) to see friends, play sports, resume contact with family in ‘real space’ or get back to work that we value.

But for some, even the happy, much-anticipated changes and readjustments can be complex for our mental health.

The Mental Health Foundation has been part of the national mental health response during the coronavirus outbreak.

They have some fantastic advice, tips, and contacts for you to use or share with those you feel will benefit.
