Our Asset Planning service

Your property is often your most valuable asset, and without proactive asset planning, managing it can create unnecessary stress, delays, and financial loss for your family.

Our comprehensive Asset Planning service helps ensure:

  • Strategic Asset Planning: Your home is fully protected.
  • Your wishes are followed: Your estate is distributed exactly how you intend.
  • Your family avoids complications: We minimise legal hurdles and administrative delays for your loved ones.
  • Ownership is structured correctly: Your asset planning framework is built for maximum efficiency and long-term security.

Why property planning matters?

Many people assume “the house automatically goes to my partner or children.”
In reality, property can be affected by:

  1. Ownership type
  2. Mortgages
  3. Family structure
  4. Intestacy laws
  5. Probate delays

Effective planning can help avoid disputes, delays and unintended consequences for your family.

Our Sort Legal Process

Planning for the future can feel overwhelming, but having the right support in place can provide reassurance and peace of mind for you and the people who matter most. Our Private Client team is here to help you make important decisions with confidence, offering practical, personal advice that is tailored to your individual circumstances.

  1. Get in touch – Contact our team to arrange a no-obligation consultation.
  2. Your initial advice appointment - This will be either face to face, or online via zoom or teams (depending on your location). In this appointment, we will understand the circumstances of you and your family from a legal, financial and personal standpoint, to get an idea of what advice you may need.
  3. Your personalised plan – Following your initial appointment, we’ll send you a plan designed around your needs. This will be tailored completely to your set of circumstances and may include some or all of our service options.
  4. Review meeting - In this appointment, we will discuss our recommendations with you, answer any questions and ensure you fully understand your options. This will either be face-to-face, or online via zoom or teams (depending on your location).
  5. Considering your options - Following the review meeting, you'll have time to review everything, giving you time to check everything over and ensure you’re happy with the service we have proposed to you.
  6. Happy to proceed with the service(s) - Once you’re happy to proceed, your plan will be put into place, and any documents will become valid once signed and witnessed.

Depending on the services you’ve instructed us for, there may be a longer process and additional work. For example, Probate and Court of Protection take much more work and time.
