Our Wills service

Whether you're preparing your first Will, planning for later life, protecting your family, or dealing with the affairs of a loved one, we're here to guide you with clear, practical and personalised advice.

Every situation is different. That's why we take the time to understand your circumstances and provide tailored solutions that reflect your individual needs and future goals.

A professionally drafted Will ensures your wishes are followed after your death. It allows you to decide:

> Who inherits your money, property and possessions

> Who will care for your children

> Who will administer your estate

Without a valid Will, the law determines how your estate is distributed, which may not reflect your wishes.

A professionally written Will gives you control, clarity and peace of mind.

What we offer at Sort Legal?

Single Wills

Ideal for individuals who want complete control over how their estate is distributed, particularly where there are personal assets, business interests or complex family circumstances.

Mirror Wills

A popular option for couples, spouses and civil partners who wish to leave their estate to each other and ultimately to shared beneficiaries such as children.

Mirror Wills are designed for couples who want their estate plans to reflect the same outcomes. Both Wills are written at the same time, usually with similar wording. They provide an easy method for couples to express shared decisions, like guardianship of children or how property will be handled.

However, Mirror Wills are not legally linked. This means one partner can change their Will after the other’s death, which might affect the original agreement. You should only choose Mirror Wills if you both fully trust each other to maintain the plan.

Our Sort Legal Process

Planning for the future can feel overwhelming, but having the right support in place can provide reassurance and peace of mind for you and the people who matter most. Our Private Client team is here to help you make important decisions with confidence, offering practical, personal advice that is tailored to your individual circumstances.

  1. Get in touch – Contact our team to arrange a no-obligation consultation.
  2. Your initial advice appointment - This will be either face to face, or online via zoom or teams (depending on your location). In this appointment, we will understand the circumstances of you and your family from a legal, financial and personal standpoint, to get an idea of what advice you may need.
  3. Your personalised plan – Following your initial appointment, we’ll send you a plan designed around your needs. This will be tailored completely to your set of circumstances and may include some or all of our service options.
  4. Review meeting - In this appointment, we will discuss our recommendations with you, answer any questions and ensure you fully understand your options. This will either be face-to-face, or online via zoom or teams (depending on your location).
  5. Considering your options - Following the review meeting, you'll have time to review everything, giving you time to check everything over and ensure you’re happy with the service we have proposed to you.
  6. Happy to proceed with the service(s) - Once you’re happy to proceed, your plan will be put into place, and any documents will become valid once signed and witnessed.

Depending on the services you’ve instructed us for, there may be a longer process and additional work. For example, Probate and Court of Protection take much more work and time.
