5 Years at Sort Legal - Sidra Bhatti

23 Feb 2026

Join us in celebrating a special 5-year milestone for Sidra, our Remortgage Paralegal! She started with us as a Business Admin Apprentice and has now grown into a skilled professional managing her own caseload of clients, as well as supporting and leading other paralegals within the team.

With the support of the Sort Legal team, Sidra’s skills and knowledge have grown massively, allowing her to take on more responsibility and handle more complex remortgage cases. To mark this milestone, we asked Sidra to reflect on her time with Sort Legal so far and what advice she’d give her younger self starting in her career.

What does reaching 5 years at Sort Legal mean to you?

Reaching 5 years at Sort Legal is a milestone I’m really proud of. I joined the business as a Business Admin Apprentice, and over the years I’ve grown both professionally and personally. It represents progression, resilience, and the trust the firm has placed in me to develop into my current role. It also reflects the supportive environment at Sort Legal that encourages learning and growth.

What does a “day in the life” look like for you now compared to when you started?

When I started, my day focused on supporting other paralegals with administrative tasks on remortgage cases and learning the fundamentals of conveyancing. Now, my day looks very different. I manage my own caseload of around 80 remortgage cases, prepare legal documentation, liaise directly with clients, brokers and lenders, and ensure work meets strict deadlines and regulatory requirements. I also support two other paralegals as their team leader, which adds a mentoring and leadership element to my role, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to pass on the knowledge I've learnt.

What’s been your biggest learning curve over the last 5 years?

My biggest learning curve has been developing confidence in decision-making and managing a high-volume caseload while maintaining accuracy and compliance. Learning to prioritise effectively, communicate clearly with a wide range of people and handle responsibility independently has been challenging but also rewarding.

How has working here impacted you professionally and personally?

Professionally, working at Sort Legal has given me strong technical knowledge, case management skills, and leadership experience. Personally, it’s helped me build confidence, resilience, and professionalism. I’ve learned how to manage pressure, take ownership of my work, and continuously improve. The support from my team and managers has played a huge role in that development, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people who have supported me along the way.

If you could sum up your time at Sort Legal in 3 words, what would they be?

Challenging. Growth. Rewarding.

What’s one piece of career advice you would give to your younger self?

Don’t let self-doubt hold you back. Trust the process and take every opportunity to grow.
