Celebrating 5 Years at Sort Legal - Dione Hopkins

16 Jan 2026

This month, we’re proud to celebrate our Remortgage Paralegal, Dione Hopkins 5th anniversary with Sort Legal.

Since joining as an apprentice, Dione’s time at Sort Legal has been full of growth and learning. She has progressed from an apprentice in the Post Completion Team to a Remortgage Paralegal, now managing her own caseload and clients within the Remortgage team. Throughout her time, Dione has taken on increasing responsibility and gained newfound confidence in her work.

In this blog, she shares her experience at Sort Legal, reflecting on a typical working day now compared to five years ago, as well as lessons she’s learned along the way…

What does reaching 5 years at Sort Legal mean to you?

Reaching 5 years at Sort Legal feels like a real achievement. I have worked my way up from an apprentice to a paralegal in the post completion team, and then to the remortgage team managing my own caseload and clients. I never thought I would be here when I first started!

What’s one part of your job that people might be surprised to learn about?

People might be surprised to learn how much responsibility is involved. Even though some of us are paralegals and not solicitors, we carry very tight deadlines and do everything we can to ensure that we meet these deadlines not only for the client’s satisfaction, but for our own mental health!

What does a “day in the life” look like for you now compared to when you started?

When I first started, it was mainly administrative tasks such as filing and scanning post, just to help out the team whilst working on my apprenticeship. It didn’t take long for me to get stuck into the real legal side of the job, and I progressed very quickly thanks to the support and guidance of my previous manager post-completion, who really played a huge role in my motivation for the job. Now I have my own responsibilities in the remortgage team, and I feel a larger sense of independence.

If you could sum up your Sort Legal journey in 3 words, what would they be?

Growth, responsibility and challenge

What’s one piece of career advice you would give to your younger self?

Trust that confidence comes with experience. It’s easy to start a new career and feel as though you won’t ever get the hang of any of it. You can never ask too many questions. Do not hesitate to repeat questions even if you feel as though you’ve already asked before.

What are you most excited about for the next chapter of your career here?

I am looking forward to the training on more complex files to expand my knowledge in the law and property industry.

To celebrate Dione's time with Sort Legal, Janet Quinlan-Jones, our Remortgage Director, shared some words:

‘Dione has settled into the remortgage team really well over the last 12 months and has already become a competent and professional case handler. She shows true potential, is well-organised, an excellent communicator and is a great team player as well as being eager to learn more complex legal issues. She is a true asset to the team’
