Celebrating Charley Sims for National Apprenticeship Week!

03 May 2024

It’s National Apprenticeship Week, and what better way to celebrate than shining a light on our wonderful past and present Apprentices at Sort Group.

Charley joined Sort Group as a school leaver on 14th July 2021, and commenced her Apprenticeship, working towards her AAT qualifications. Fast forward 3 years, Charley is now a fully qualified accountant and has been promoted to Group Management Accountant.

How did you find your Apprenticeship?

I thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship journey, it was a very valuable learning experience, I had very supportive mentors who were able to answer all my questions and introduce me to a lot of beneficial knowledge to help sculpt me into the person I am now 3 years later.

Would you recommend the Apprenticeship route to other candidates considering it?

Yes absolutely, I think it is a very good opportunity to gain your qualification while also getting the sought-after experience you may lack from studying it at university. I think it depends on your learning style as some people may strive in classroom-based learning while others learn best practically.

Now you’re a qualified accountant, what are you looking forward to achieving within the next few years of your career?

For now, I am happy where I am and what I am doing, becoming more confident in my current job role, and enjoying the break from studying, but I am definitely interested in furthering my career by going down the chartered route in the future.
