National Apprenticeship Week is a time to celebrate the incredible impact apprenticeships have in creating new opportunities for both individuals and businesses. Here at Sort, we’re dedicated to cultivating young talent through our diverse apprenticeship programmes, providing individuals with hands-on experience across various departments in the Legal, IT and Marketing sectors. By working alongside experienced professionals, our apprentices not only develop valuable skills but also gain the knowledge and confidence to thrive in their chosen careers and make a lasting impact within the company.
In this blog post, Jack Gibb, who recently completed his apprenticeship as a Post Completion Administrative Apprentice at Sort Legal, shares the story of his growth and skills gained throughout his apprenticeship journey.
Can you describe your apprenticeship role and the type of work you’re doing?
My apprenticeship role, before passing, was Post Completion Administrative Apprentice. This entailed admin work such as filing legal documents and sending emails and letters to lenders and clients whilst also taking an active learning role in regard to the application process we in the Post Completion team go through.
How did you find your apprenticeship?
Hard work, as everything worthwhile should be. Throughout the long process, I have learned so much and am grateful for the experience, regardless of the time it took to complete. It was worth it.
How has your mentor supported your journey?
My mentor has gone above and beyond for me on several occasions. She was completely understanding when things didn’t go as planned and always offered helpful solutions, which is a key reason I made it through the apprenticeship.
What has been the most rewarding part of your apprenticeship?
The relief of passing. I’m now free to apply the skills and qualifications I gained from my apprenticeship, unlocking new opportunities. The future ahead is full of rewarding possibilities, and I am grateful for this apprenticeship.
How has the apprenticeship helped you develop new skills?
I personally struggled in an academic environment, but I believe the hands-on learning experience was incredibly beneficial for me. Seeing others work and learning from them has given me the correct skills I need to further my career in this field.
