It's National Apprenticeship Week!

It’s National Apprenticeship Week, and what better way to celebrate than shining a light on our wonderful past and present Apprentices at Sort Group.
We embarked on our Apprenticeship scheme in 2017 to help combat the ongoing recruitment challenge within the legal sector and we’ve seen huge success. We wanted to be part of the solution to promote Conveyancing as a strong sector to build a career in. The Apprenticeship scheme does just that, by building valuable business skills with practical work, and applying them with the Conveyancing knowledge that is shared from Mentors and fellow colleagues.
All of our Apprentices have benefitted the business by bringing in fresh, new ideas and new ways of working, along with an enthusiastic attitude.
Our Current Apprentices:
· We have seven Apprentices currently working towards the Level 3 Business Administration, working across New Business, Remortgage and Post Completion departments.
· We have three Apprentices currently working towards the AAT Level 3 in the Accounts department.
Our Past Apprentices:
· We have two team members who have passed their AAT Apprenticeships and are now qualified accountants.
· We have four team members who have passed their Business Administration Apprenticeships and have permanent roles across Remortgage and Post Completion.
Our Apprenticeship Awards:
In 2023, we were delighted to pick up two Awards for our Apprenticeship scheme – one National and one Local:
· Award – Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employer – Winner – Ranked 24 out of 50.
· Award- Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship Awards – Winner – Mentor of the Year (Janet Quinlan-Jones)
· We also made it to finalist at the Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire awards for SME Employer of the year.
Our Apprenticeship Ambassador:
· Carolyn Mars, Sort Group’s HR & Operations Executive has been named ‘Apprenticeship Ambassador’ and was invited to the House of Commons by the Department of Education and recently took part in a webinar about our scheme.
To celebrate and shine the line on how fantastic Apprenticeship schemes are, we’ll be exploring more by sharing some case studies throughout the week.
