This month, we’re celebrating an important milestone for one of our Conveyancing Case Handlers, Elliot Pipes, who has officially reached 5 years with Sort Legal. Over the past 5 years, he’s grown from an assistant into a Conveyancing Case Handler. During this time, Elliot was even a 2024 finalist for the Generation Next Customer Service award, a recognition of his dedication to delivering excellent service to our clients.
To celebrate his journey so far, we asked Elliot to reflect on his time at Sort Legal.
What does reaching 5 years at Sort Legal mean to you?
I am proud to work for a company that values it’s employees and I have seen growth from a relatively small company to a multi-national firm. I think back on the last 5 years, and I can’t believe it has gone so fast and how much has changed. Hopefully, I will be here for another 5 years.
How has your role evolved since you first joined?
I first joined as an assistant. My role then evolved to handling my own sale only files to eventually purchase files, re-mortgages, transfers of equity and now I am fully fledged case handler with my own assistant.
What's the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your 5 years here?
That the job role is ever evolving; you have to keep on your toes as policies/regulations/laws change along with societal changes as a whole, moving to a fully electronic process by and large. There is never a slow day, everyday, is as busy as the last.
What’s one part of your job that people might be surprised to learn about?
I don’t just have to be a Conveyancer, I have to be a sales progressor, teacher, financial analyst, therapist and a whole host of other things. It takes a certain person and strength of character to do this job. I would say it’s amongst the hardest jobs to do but it can be very rewarding.
What have been some of your proudest moments/achievements over the past 5 years?
Being recognized by numerous agents and brokers as a preferred case handler to assign files to, having recurring clients come back to use me again and overall how I have managed to grow from an assistant to a case handler.
If you could sum up your Sort Legal journey in 3 words, what would they be?
Challenging. Demanding. Rewarding
What’s one piece of career advice you would give to your younger self?
To not be afraid to ask questions and to learn as much as you can, as soon as you can.
