As Sort Legal launches its new Wills, Trusts and Probate department, we wanted to introduce the person helping to bring this new service to life. Lisa Caine, Head of Wills, Trusts and Probate, has built her career around supporting clients through some of life’s most important moments and is now using her experience to shape something completely new at Sort Legal.
We asked Lisa a few questions to help you get to know her a little better, from her journey into law, her role at Sort Legal, and what she’s most excited about as she helps shape the new department…
What inspired you to specialise in Wills, Trusts, and Probate and pursue a career in this field?
Growing up, even in junior school, I always wanted to be a Solicitor. I started off as a Receptionist in a law firm and then moved into the Employment department. From there, I moved to another firm in Newcastle, where I started as a secretary in the Private Client Department. The rest is history, and I have never looked back. I enjoy helping people and working with the older generation.
How did this lead you to become Head of Wills, Trusts and Probate at Sort Legal, and what drew you to join us?
I have been Head of Wills and Probate at 2 previous firms. The challenge of starting up a new department from scratch is what attracted me to Sort Legal.
What excites you most about building and shaping a new area of practice?
I can mould the department how I want it to run, as well as setting up the new system.
How do you ensure clients get the best experience in a newly established service?
Listen to their needs and explain their options.
Outside of work, how do you like to unwind or recharge after a busy week leading the team?
A cheeky rhubarb and ginger gin always goes down well! I also love to walk my German Shepard, Luna, and spend time with my partner and family. I also love travelling. I need at least 3-4 holidays a year.
If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Just my Mam, as she passed away in October 2024, and I miss her lots.
What is your favourite film/TV show?
Moblands or anything gritty with gangsters or crime.
If you weren’t in law, what would you be doing instead?
Nothing, I always wanted to work in law since I was about 8.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don't delay stuff, just do it.
Lisa’s experience and passion for helping people will play a key role as Sort Legal’s Wills, Trusts and Probate department continues to grow.
Keep an eye out as we introduce more of the team and share more about our new services.
