Meet Our New Starter – Chynna Taylor

23 Nov 2024

Chynna has now joined the Sort Legal team as a Trainee Conveyancing Case Handler. We’re super excited to have Chynna on board and hope that we can help mould her career in the Conveyancing world.

The week we caught up with Chynna and got to know her more personally. Read on to find out more about Chynna’s experience, education and what she enjoys doing in her spare time.

What is your role at Sort Legal?

I am a Trainee Conveyancing Case Handler.

What attracted you to Sort Legal?

I was looking for greater responsibility in conveyancing and the ability to manage my caseload without sacrificing training opportunities and support from the company – I applied for a Legal assistant role and was offered my current role as a trainee conveyancing case handler; this gave me confidence in my ability instantly, even before joining the company!

Tell us about your previous experience; what did you do before?

During my studies, I worked in the retail service industry. After completing the Legal Practice Course and a Master’s in Law, I worked in residential and commercial conveyancing as a Legal Assistant.

If you could holiday anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I have always dreamed of going to Fiji! I have always seen how beautiful Fiji is through social media and would love to rent a hut that hangs over the clear water and have the opportunity to swim with the wildlife. Hopefully, I will go there for my honeymoon when I get married later this year!

How would you like to progress at Sort Legal?

What are your career goals? I think you should always set your sights high, so my long-term career goal is to become the Head of Legal Practice. In terms of progress, I look forward to training as a junior case handler and taking on cases with differing complexity as my training progresses with our In-house Conveyancing Trainer, Victoria Calladine.

Tell us something not many people know about you?

From the age of 4, I was insistent that my career goal was to become a midwife, and I could not be told otherwise. When I turned 18, I fell in love with Law and its complexities.

Who inspires you?

My Fiancé. His continued stubbornness and support are the reasons I got through Law school and the LPC (it can be that stressful!), and I credit him for where I am today as a person and within my career.

Describe your perfect day off?

4 words. Pizza. Snacks. Netflix. Family.

What advice would you give someone looking to start a career in conveyancing?

Try conveyancing. Even if it is not your chosen career path, give conveyancing a chance – it might just shock you, and it is not always as dull as it sounds!

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?

I love going on nature walks with my fiancé and our puppy, Dewi. I also enjoy staying in and binge-watching my favourite Netflix/Disney+ shows (currently The Vampire Diaries and Star Wars Rebels)
